Offshore

AWS Truewind has produced wind maps for several offshore regions including the coastal areas of the United States, the Great Lakes, and selected international waters. The maps have been produced using AWS Truewind’s proprietary MesoMap® system and provide valuable information for identifying areas having a strong offshore wind resource. 

The most recent mapping project, the Great Lakes, was completed in May 2008 and was funded by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, State of Indiana, State of Energy and Defense Department, and Ohio Department of Development.

The maps were produced at 200 m resolution and validated in conjunction with NREL. They can be viewed by clicking on the links below:
