As Seen In BusinessWeek
June 26, 2008
BusinessWeek a
leading business magazine and online journal, recently published a piece highlighting
ongoing efforts by Massachusetts-based Cape Wind to build the first offshore
wind plant in the United States. The project, planned for the Horseshoe Shoal in Nantucket Sound,
would include 130 wind turbines producing 420MW of clean, renewable energy
according to the company’s website.
AWS
Truewind provided BusinessWeek with wind resource maps and data for offshore New England as illustrative support for the article.
Offshore maps were provided for the Gulf
Coast and the Great
Lakes region as well for a more national perspective. The maps
were used to create the Shore Winds graphic which accompanies the full article which
can be accessed here.
AWS
Truewind paved the way for industry-wide acceptance of wind resource modeling
with its release of the MesoMap® system over a decade ago. Since its introduction,
MesoMap has been utilized to produce wind resource maps and data for over 60
countries on six continents. The MesoMap system is the power behind AWS
Truewind’s most accurate and detailed seamless wind resource map of the
continental US released in May 2008. This highly-accurate, detailed wind
resource map and associated data are available through AWS Truewind’s
state-of-the-art wind prospecting application windNavigator.
