AWS Truewind to Present at International Wind Forecast Techniques Workshop

AWS Truewind has been invited to present at the International Wind Forecast Techniques and Methodologies Workshop. The event, which is sponsored by Bonneville Power Administration and the California Independent System Operator, will take place at the Marriott Inn in Portland, Oregon July 24 – 25, 2008.

According to the sponsors, the event will be a technical workshop dedicated to utilities and balancing authorities (control area operators) who are responsible for the integration of large scale wind and the wind forecasting vendors who support them.

The workshop goals and objectives include:  identifying the leading wind forecasting approaches, methodologies and research in the USA and Europe, developing “Best Practices” for the accurate forecasting of wind energy – identify the “metrics” of a good forecast and reducing error in wind scheduling within the hour (Transmission); next hour and a day ahead (Generation), among other important topics.
