AWS Truewind Well Positioned to Support HECO RFP Responses

July 08, 2008

Hawaiian Electric Co. (HECO) announced that it is seeking developers interested in supplying up to 100 MW of renewable energy to Oahu’s power grid. According to the HECO website (www.heco.com), the company is making available, free of charge to any interested wind energy developer, wind data collected from November 2007 through February 2008 at the HECO “M2” wind monitoring station on the North Shore of Oahu.   Raw wind data (mean wind speed (meters/second) (m/s), wind direction, and ambient temperature) and monthly summaries of the wind data, including key wind statistics and wind speed and direction distributions developed by AWS Truewind are available.

AWS Truewind’s experience and knowledge of this complex wind regime as well as our first-hand knowledge of the environment at this location makes our team the optimum candidate for the full spectrum of consulting services relevant to this RFP. For more information on our experience in Hawaii, or our wind resource assessment and energy production estimation services, contact us today.

Responses are due September 25. For more information, go to generationbidding.heco.com.
