WindView
Available in two versions, AWS Truewind’s WindView CD is accessible to both the novice user and the GIS savvy developer. The Standard version of the product contains numerous GIS layers in addition to the wind resource layers such as topography, interstate highways, county boundaries, major city points and wind rose points. The Enhanced version includes all of the data layers found in the Standard version but also includes additional valuable layers such as seasonal and diurnal data points.
The CD-ROM contains ESRI ArcReader software and the associated data files for the wind resource maps. The ArcReader program allows a user to view the maps, zoom to any area, copy or print maps of any area at any scale, and query the data. By clicking on a point, the user is able to call up a data table with the mean wind speed at each height as well as the elevation, surface roughness, Weibull factors, and speed frequency distribution parameters. The CD-ROM includes a help file describing the use of the software.
